Worktable Wednesday: Celebrating Success

This past weekend, I attended a conference called Schoolhouse Craft.  While there, I learned all about this crazy world of professional crafting.  One of the classes I attended was called "Celebrating Your Success May Be The Key to Finding Your Success."  It was taught by Emira Mears and focused on the idea that as entrepreneurs, we can often shy away from tooting our own horn.  She argued that this can hold us back from success and it's important to practice celebrating our success, PUBLICLY.  To get that ball rolling, I'm going to showcase some of the awesome things our team is doing right now.

Rose from Random Creative recently shared an awesome magazine feature she was in.  I'm so proud of her!  Her work is gorgeous so of course it would be in a magazine.  Not only is she awesome for being featured, but she did a great job sharing it on her blog.  If you want to score these famous earrings, they can be found in her etsy shop here.

Magazine Feature

The next success I'd like to celebrate is somewhat unconventional, but I love seeing people with the confidence to make their own choices in life.  Nancy from One Loopy Knitter just wrote that she has decided to cut back on a lot of social media.  I just think this is awesome.  I often struggle with all the business advice flying around; I feel like I have to do everything that is suggested.  Seeing Nancy have the courage to say no to these kind of pressures and do what is right for her is awesome.  It teaches us all to find the right path for our own lives.

Farewell Facebook

Finally, in order to practice what I preach, I'll share one of my own recent accomplishments.  I recently participated in an awesome art show that really pushed me out of my comfort zone.  Despite being pregnant and with a broken ankle, I pushed through and worked really hard to make this show happen.  This included designing a new display and finishing up some new items that I wanted to display.  I was exhausted by the end but very proud.

My show display

Alright.  What awesome things have you done this week?  I want specifics!!!

Worktable Wednesday: Halloween is Coming!

With Halloween only a month and a half away, many of the Blogging Business Artisans are turning their attention to pumpkins and ghosts.  One of these crafters is Heather from iHartFelt.  She has been busy turning out her adorable felt creations with a spooky twist.

Owls and Cat by iHartFelt

There are owls, cats, and bats.  Can't you imaging hanging a whole bunch of these bats up in your house?  Adorable!

Heather is even hosting a giveaway right now for a chance to win your very own owls.  Go check it out!

Worktable Wednesday: Show Prep

It may be August, but many of our bloggers are already getting ready for their fall and winter shows.  As an artist, it can take quite a bit of time to build up an inventory and even to get your display items made.

Edi from Memories for Life Scrapbooks has been working on some new ways to display her products.  She makes a fantastic variety of personalized items.  This extends all the way into her display items.  Check out this creative piece she made to display her engraved bottle stoppers:

Another essential item at any craft show is business cards.  Judy from This Creative Journey just wrote a great post about Moo mini cards.  Not only does she show off some of her own, but she tells about a special deal going on now.  Go check it out!

Sometimes craft show prep means you have to be the one that makes Christmas crafts in August.   Sher reminds us of this in her recent post.  If you need an extra reminder, just walk into any craft store...

My own personal tip for a craft show?  Try not to fall and break your ankle.  Yep, that happened to me at a craft show this weekend.  But life goes on and I'm now working on my own upcoming art show :)

What are you doing for fall shows?  Any tips for someone new to the craft show world?

Worktable Wednesday: Blog Features

While reading the blogs of our BBA members, I've noticed a trend in having regular features.  Even on this blog we have regular weekly posts!  I decided to highlight some of these creative features today.

Rose at The Beadings and Buttons of Randomcreative has been doing a cool monthly feature called "Color Combination Inspiration."  In these posts, she shares pretty images with gorgeous color combinations.  Here is her latest of these posts.

Turquoise and Brown

Another cool feature is "Get it Together Thursday" from Janet at Honey from the Bee.  In these posts, she presents a fun fashion board of various pieces along a theme.  In her latest post, she shared some great finds for a rock concert.

Sharla at Beaded Tail always brings us great features.  Excuse me, really it's her pets that do the work.  One of my favorites is Tortie Tuesday as told by Isabella.  I used to have a tortie kitty of my own so these make me smile.

What other features have you seen lately?  Are there any that you do on your own blog?

July Monthly Challenge - Summer Lovin'

It's time to introduce our July Challenge!  Each month we participate we grow by trying new techniques, materials, new color combinations or even just gain a better understanding of what inspires us.

Jenny of A Bird in the Hand Art came up with this month's challenge:  Summer Lovin'

She says we can do anything summer or love related or even Grease (the movie) related!  Sounds like a blast!

Grease premiered in 1978 and was the original High School Musical set in the '50's, for those of you out there that haven't seen it.  Who didn't want to be Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) winning the heart of bad boy Danny (John Travolta)?  ah... a summer romance one would never forget...

"Summer sun, something's begun
But, uh oh, those summer nights"

Hand Painted Songbird Clutch by A Bird in the Hand Art

The innocence of first love and a simpler time, yet a time in our lives we can all relate with good girls, bad girls, and the attraction of those bad boys who took chances.

"It turned colder, that's where it ends
So I told her we'd still be friends
Then we made our true love vow
Wonder what she's doing now..."

Don't forget to check back in after about the 26th of this month when those of us on the team that participated link up our personal blog posts describing our new creations.

As members of the Blogging Business Artisans we are required to participate in 6 of the 12 monthly challenges per year.  Additional requirements and to see future challenges click here.  If you would like to become a Blogging Business Artisan, check out what that means here.

Tuesday Treasuries

Today's treasury is A Touch of Sun created by Kaili Williams.  I'm visiting sunny California this week so this is a perfect treasury for me :)  Even if you are not basking in sunshine, this treasury will give you a few rays.

I'm a big fan of this kitty painting by Kathy of tapestry316.  Probably because I have my own orange kitty at home.  I'm a sucker for an orange kitty.

This chevron purse from Nancy of NFallonDesignStudio is adorable!  It would certainly brighten up any day.  And if you are like me, you always carry way too many small items in your purse and then spend 10 minutes trying to find them.  This could solve that.
